About ICAST
The Institute of Catholic Social Teachings (ICAST) is a new initiative of the Catholic University of South Sudan. It seeks to apply and promote the principles of Catholic Social Teaching (CST) as the foundation for social justice and sound public policy. Rooted in Gospel values, CST offers a powerful moral framework for addressing real-world challenges in governance, development, and human dignity.
Objectives
- Promote Catholic Social Teaching as a cornerstone for civic responsibility and ethical leadership.
- Train current and future leaders in justice, equity, and governance based on Church social documents.
- Serve as a forum for discussion, applied research, and dialogue on social problems affecting communities.
Partnerships
ICAST will work in collaboration with the African Forum for Catholic Social Teaching (AFCAST), headquartered in Harare, Zimbabwe. Through this partnership, ICAST will access regional training models and shared resources focused on:
- Good governance and civic education
- Leadership rooted in Catholic ethics
- Cross-border collaboration on social justice research
Note: ICAST will soon launch its first series of public dialogues and workshops. For inquiries about partnerships or participation, please contact the University.
